Every year, Bassett High School seniors meet at a local restaurant for an annual class breakfast. While that wasn't possible this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, school officials did the next best thing, hosting a drive-through breakfast for the class of 2020 at the school.
BHS faculty and staff cooked pancakes and sausage to show their appreciation to the senior class Tuesday morning.
"It's important to us to show our students how much we care about them and appreciate them," said BHS Principal Tiffiny Gravely. "They have come a long way and deserve to be celebrated."
Graduation for Bassett's seniors was originally scheduled for Saturday, but it was canceled. Henry County Schools will instead be posting a video on Saturday of a virtual graduation ceremony featuring messages from HCPS Superintendent Sandy Strayer, Gravely, and selected student speakers, as well as a photo of every graduate.
Bassett will host a parade at the school for the seniors to drive through on Friday night as part of the school's final "Friday Night Lights" event.
